TEXAS A&M BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT INTERNSHIP

Now accepting applications!

Howdy! We are looking for a talented Aggie to take over as General Manager of HowdyHomes because our beloved TAMU intern is graduating.

This is unlike any other internship out there! Our GM runs our entire College Station operation so it is both a huge responsibility and an amazing chance to get very deep real-world business experience.

HowdyHomes’ parent company, College Digs, is an established startup and College Station is our second college market. HowdyHomes has been a huge success at TAMU so far and it will be up to our next GM to grow it even more.

This is a part-time internship that rewards hard work with generous pay. All of our interns, including our three current Aggie interns, love working with our close-knit team. College Digs is a distributed company, meaning we live all over the country and work from home.

Our General Manager will learn a lot of new business skills and earn enthusiastic professional references. Most importantly, how many interns can say they built a business that will be a College Station institution for decades? Exceptional interns may be given the opportunity to become full-time members of our team upon graduation and help us expand to other college markets.

How do you know if this internship is right for you? You should be excited about learning new things and capable of doing your own research. You should also be self-motivated enough to set and maintain your own schedule. If you need to be micro-managed, this internship is not for you. While we provide guidance and support, you will be empowered to think like a small business owner and make decisions.

If you haven’t heard of HowdyHomes, it is a website that helps Aggies find the right off-campus rental housing. We began marketing it to Aggies just a few months ago and it is already a big hit with students and local property managers. Our next GM will help us build HowdyHomes into the dominant off-campus housing source in CSTAT!

The General Manager of HowdyHomes has a very wide range of responsibilities. Some examples include:

Warm interpersonal skills are required to build rapport with our local property manager clients. Sales is part of the role, but when we ask for contracts, it flows naturally from all of the work we have done to nurture long-established relationships with our clients. It is unlike typical sales roles that require prospecting and cold-calling.

Pay starts at $10/hr plus some performance-linked bonuses.

The start date is flexible between late March to early April and the first 2-3 weeks will be dedicated to training. We invest a lot in training and developing our interns, so we ask that candidates commit to the summer and be interested in continuing beyond that. We can work around some summer travel plans and we will consider candidates who will not be staying in College Station this summer.

Here is what Jossa, HowdyHomes’ first GM, had to say about this internship: “I love working for College Digs! I feel like I’m contributing to the Aggie community by helping students find housing. I love that I am a major part of the company, enjoy the flexibility of working from home, and get to learn new skills regularly.”

Women and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply.
